First Bus and Back to School Party!

Well, Zachary rode the bus for the first time today!  😐  Today was his first full day of school and he was pretty nervous!  He went with Kirstyn, however, and she took GREAT care of him and made sure he got to where he needed to go!

It was very funny however…  When he came home after a great day of school, he told us that he had two breakfasts today!  One at home, and one at school.  It turns out that they asked him (we’re still not sure why they would ask a kindergartner about that) if he wanted to eat breakfast and he said SURE!  So he ate!  🙂  We’re not signed up to eat breakfasts and he is not on the free breakfast program.  Kirstyn was mortified when she found out about this and we all had a great laugh.  We told Zachary that he wasn’t to eat breakfast at the school anymore.

Sarah had a back-to-school party tonight and had 21 of her friends over to the house!  We were very nervous about the setup because it looked like it was going to rain all day.  They all ate grilled burgers and hot dogs, chips, pop, and all kinds of other stuff.  They hung out in the back yard and had a great time talking about their summers and what they had done.  They then played musical chairs out in the back yard for awhile and then introduced themselves to each other.  It was a wonderful party!  We had representation from all 3 of the high schools in our district and everyone got to know one another.

After the food and games were done, we crossed our fingers, prayed, and hoped it would not rain.  We set up a theater in the back yard and watched a movie out there on the big screen!  They munched on chips and salsa, candy, popcorn, cookies, and brownies and had a great time!

With about 20 minutes to go in the movie, it started to rain, so we hurried and packed everything up and took the movie inside.  They finished watching it in the basement.  They then played ping pong and played on the Wii.  They had a great time.  The party finished up at about 11 and everyone went home.  Overall, a great time was had by all and Sarah really enjoyed getting back together with her friends.
