Zach Soccer Game

Zach had a soccer game today (fortunately it was local this week) and he did a great job!  His coach is great and he is really learning a lot!

Keep working hard on it Zach!  Great job!

Chicago Trip

Tonight I hopped on the Amtrak train out of Denver and am on my way to Chicago for a work trip.  Taking the train allows me to get to Chicago MUCH cheaper and without the need for car fares to and from the airport.  Because of this, I was able to swing renting a car and staying in Naperville instead of the more expensive hotel right by the office.  I’m excited to get out there and take the weekend to see many of our old friends and such!  More on the trip when I get back home!

Church in North Ogden and Drive Home

This morning we got up early, hit the first sacrament meeting in North Ogden and then drove down to Spanish Fork to visit Greg and Lisa and their new baby!  As I said yesterday, Grandma and Grandpa were also there…

After hanging out for awhile with them, we left and made the quiet drive across I-70 home.  It’s good to be back home.

BYU Idaho and Soccer Game

We pulled into Rexburg, ID at about 6am after driving all night and had to wait a bit before getting Brittany checked into her dorm.  We unloaded all her stuff and Brittany had a rude awakening that she brought WAY too much stuff.  She was pretty frustrated about that but we got her all sorted out and are bringing home a bunch of extra stuff she didn’t need.

After getting her settled, we walked around campus with her and helped her figure out where all her classes were.  We also went to the bookstore and got the rest of her books she had on hold.

It turns out that Tanners (from our old ward who had since moved to Burley) were in town dropping off Sarah and so we met up with them and DT Batchelor and Arielle Brown for lunch!  It was fun to catch up with them and see how things were going.  Mark and Jocelyn also were on their way to Salem and dropped by to see us as well.  It was good to see them before we said our good-byes to Brittany.

Tonight we drove down to North Ogden and stayed at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.  They weren’t there as they were in Spanish Fork helping Lisa take care of their new baby.  On our way down, we picked up 4 antique chairs from Julie (she met us at the freeway) and then stopped just south of Brigham City in Willard and got a bushel of fresh-picked peaches!  🙂   Yum!  We are exhausted right now and will sleep well tonight!

Meanwhile, back at home, Zach played in his soccer game and they WON!  Yea!  Great job Zach!  Jennifer Braithwaite actually stayed with them overnight on Friday and left today.  Kirstyn is now at home and in charge.  🙂

Wedding, Reception, and All-Night Drive

Today was a hugely busy and VERY long day!  This morning, Julia Liddell and Mark Daniel were sealed in the temple.  It was wonderful to be there!  Luck would have it that our home teacher and the Stake Patriarch (who is also a sealer in the temple) performed the ceremony.  🙂  Julia had asked me to take pictures as well of all the events, so I shot a ton (along with the other photographer that was there).  She was the official one so I hope I didn’t get in her way.

After the sealing ceremony at the temple, we all went down to our church building in Castle Rock for the wedding breakfast.  They had asked me take a bunch of photos there as well so I did.  We really enjoyed the time there and both Terry and Mark really set the bar for all the guys there by both singing to Julia.  🙂

After the luncheon, we went home and got ready for the reception.  Brittany was asked to make the wedding cake and she did an AWESOME job on it.  It was big and weighed about 80 pounds!  We went to the reception and had to hurry through it because we had an all-night drive ahead of us…

As a last act before we left to take Brittany to college, she was the one who caught the bouquet of flowers!  🙂  I hope that doesn’t mean anything!  🙂  We took off from Castle Rock with Brittany, all of her stuff, Ally Tanner, and Angela and I at about 7pm.  We drove all night long to get to Rexburg by 6am so Brittany could get checked in, unpacked, and participate in the events of the day.  Angela and I got to the point where we were driving for an hour, then jumping out, changing, and driving again!  We are exhausted!

Temple with the Liddell’s

Tonight, we went to the temple with Julia Liddell and her family.  She received her Endowment and it was so awesome to see her there.  It’s hard to believe that time is moving so fast.  Just yesterday Julia was with our girls in Young Women and now she’s getting married tomorrow.  Jennifer Braithwaite and her kids also came (used to be in our ward in Naperville as well).  She drove in from Nebraska where they live now.  They are staying with us and will be going to the wedding and reception tomorrow.

Bridal Shower

Today Angela and Camille Poccock hosted a bridal shower for Julia Liddell Bridal Shower at our home.  She’s getting married on Friday and they wanted to do something nice for her.  They had a great time and Julia really appreciated it.

They played a bunch of crazy games and such and I guess some of the possible brides-to-be there were dressed up in toilet paper wedding gowns.  😐

Only at a bridal shower…  🙂

Missionaries for Dinner

Today we fed the missionaries.  Elder Schilling is the son of a couple that got engaged right before us at BYU and were in our ward.  🙂  Small world.

We really enjoy feeding them and we like to take pictures of them to post or send to their parents!  🙂  We love it when people in Sarah’s mission to that for us.  🙂

Homecoming Week at CVHS

This week starts homecoming week at CVHS.  Kirstyn participated with the marching band in the annual parade to the school.  They all performed as well out in the back of the school.  Angela signed-up and test drove a mustang as part of the festivities as well.

Zach had his first soccer game, but it rained so hard up in Westminster that the entire field got flooded so they had to cancel. 🙁 It rained here too but not as much.  Beautiful rainbows resulted!

It was amazing!  I swear, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow was right on the roof of that house just up the street from us!  It was the most distinct rainbow I have seen in a LONG time!

Camping with the Boys at Devil’s Head

Last night, the girls had to work, but we wanted to get a camping trip in before it started getting colder, so we took the boys up for an overnight camping trip to Devil’s head!  We had a fun time there with them!  It rained a bit but then cleared right up!  We had fun building a fire, pitching the tent, and eating!  The boys, as always, wanted to go exploring so Angela and I took turns doing that.

We slept pretty well (as good as can be expected) and this morning, we got up, cooked a nice hot breakfast of bacon and eggs, and then hiked up to Devil’s Head.  The weather was absolutely beautiful and perfect for hiking!  We love that hike because it’s not too long and the views are stunning!  The boys always love the ranger fire lookout (although Zach was bummed because it wasn’t open yet when we got there).  I guess we’ll have to do it next time more in the middle of the day.  🙂

After we got done with our hike, we went back and packed up camp.  By that time, the girls were already at work, so we went and saw them before going home.  We all walked in there, dirty, smelling like smoke, and happy.  I’m sure that the girls were about as embarrassed as they could be!  🙂

After the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory visit, we all went home, unpacked, took showers, and relaxed on our soft sofas instead of on the hard ground!  🙂  Thanks for a great overnight campout boys!  🙂
