Kistyn Last Chorus Concert at Still

Tonight was Kirstyn’s final chorus concert at still.  They sang beautifully.  The Waubonsie high school premier group was also there to sing with them.

It was sad for Kirstyn to leave the school after the concert.  She has enjoyed singing with the Still Middle School choir so much and Mrs. Boddy has been a great inspiration for her.  We’ll really miss it.

Event and Tour at Soldier Field

Well, in the 18 years we have lived in Chicago, I never thought I would be able to go to Soldier Field.  I never did get to see a game (don’t do Sunday games and Monday Night Football was always sold out and too expensive), but I did get to go to a vendor meeting to day at Soldier Field!  After the meeting, they took us on a tour of the stadium and I got to go into the visitors locker room and out on the field itself!

We didn’t get to see the Bears locker room as it’s against the owners rules and no one gets to go in without express written permission, but that’s OK.  It was fun to see everything and actually touch the grass.  🙂

Mormon Prom and Regional Science Fair

Today Kirstyn participated in the regional science fair with her project on how different types of sugar make bread rise.  She did a GREAT job on her board, and really impressed the judges!  At the end, she was awarded semi-finalist!  She was glad she didn’t win outright because the state science fair will probably be after we move and she couldn’t participate anyway.  🙂

Great job Kirstyn!  It was also fun for Angela because she got to be one of the judges!

Tonight was Mormon Prom!  Brittany was so excited all day she could barely concentrate on getting anything done.  They had a group of them go up together.  They met at the Cawley’s for dinner and took a bunch of pictures.

Then they went to  Batavia to a really cool old church/school where they held the dance.  It was a multi-stake affair so there were a ton of people there.  They got pictures done and had a great time dancing to all the songs!  The cool thing about Mormon Prom is that even though you have a date, everybody dances with each other!  As parents, we LOVE that! 🙂

I was on duty to go help pick them all up after the dance, and that’s always a fun thing.  The kids talk and talk and talk the whole way home about all the fun things that they did and it’s always fun to just sit back and enjoy the craziness of it all.  🙂

Brittany Concert

Tonight, Brittany had her last Metea Orchestra concert.  Again, as I say in about every post concerning the fine arts programs in District 204, it never ceases to amaze me at how talented the kids are.  We hope that the music program in wherever we end up in Colorado is good, but we can’t even hope for it to be near as good as the Grammy-winning district we are in right now.

I think it will be up to the kids to keep practicing and working even harder than before to keep up their talent.  We hope that they’ll do so.

Great job Brittany!  You rock!

Dinner with Friends and Families

Today, we had a dinner at Fisher’s house with Angela’s “girl group.”  They have been doing monthly lunches and get together activities (including the trip to Vegas) for years, and this will be the last one before we leave for Colorado.

It was bitter-sweet for Angela.  It was great to see the families of all the girls as well.  We had some great conversation and good time.  We’ll miss them but we know we’re doing the right thing.

Ben’s Big Birthday Party

Today, Ben had a big number 5 birthday party.  Brittany and Kirstyn put everything together for it.  They decorated the entire house and Ben had about 10 of his friends over!  They played a bunch of games and had a bunch of food and fun.

Instead of having cake, Brittany had them decorate their own cupcakes which the kids really loved!  They all got goodie bags when they left which made the kids even more excited!  🙂  By the time everyone left, Ben was totally high on sugar and the girls were totally exhausted!  🙂  I think they now have a better appreciation for what Angela goes through when she plans and throws parties for them.  🙂
