Last night, we held our 5th Annual Teacher Appreciation Dinner for the kids’ teachers. We honored them with a dinner, a program (where the kids read poems and letters they had written – Zach also read a book all by himself , sang songs, and played music), and a gift. This year, Sarah invited Mrs.
WOW! It’s hard to believe that Zach is now done with pre-school and will start next year Full-Day Kindergarten! He has LOVED pre-school and his teachers have been GREAT! We are so thankful to them for how much they have done with him! He went to the Zoo with the class this year and loved
This Memorial Day was crazy busy! While Sarah marched in the Aurora Memorial Day Parade with the Waubonsie Warrior Marching Band (Angela and Ben watched), Brittany, Kirstyn, and Zach went to a Kane County Cougars baseball game (Kirk watched) as part of the Ozzie Reading Club. Kirstyn participated in the 4th Grade State Fair at Gombert Elementary last night. She sang in a chorus, and had a speaking part on the program, part of which was leading the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. After the program, we went into the library where they had all the kids state floats set
Brittany finished up her track season with Still Middle School yesterday and they did extremely well! Brittany was not feeling well at all (sore throat, headache and chills) and the poor thing ran her heart out in the 800 Meter Relay (where she ran the 400 meter leg). Sarah has LOVED attending Seminary at the church this year! Every morning she is up and ready to go for a 5:55am start! Seminary graduation was held tonight for all graduating Seniors, and at this graduation ceremony, Sarah was awarded the Stake President’s Award. This is the highest achievement award you can get in Seminary.
Today we attended the District 204 Fine Arts Festival at Waubonsie High School. We were there for much of the day as all three girls had displays and performances. Sarah played the flute and piccolo with the band and did very well. Her band teacher asked her if she would learn to play the piccolo
I just finished up my 3rd of 6 Regional Leadership Forum sessions. What a GREAT experience. I read 5 more books, totalling 15 since the first of January. They were 1) First Break all the Rules, 2) The Zen of Listening, 3) The Prince (by Machiavelli), 4) Brain Rules, and 5) The Pearl (by John
What a GREAT day today was! Two wonderful things happened in our family: 1) Sarah tried out for section leader for the Metea High School Marching Band last week, and today she found out that she made it! We are very excited for her and she can’t wait. Part of this experience will be to
Brittany shocked us all and made us proud today at her track meet as she secured a commanding win in her heat of the 200 meters! She came around the turn strong and never looked back! Her time of 33.59 was the 2nd fastest girls 7th grade time in the entire meet! Congratulations to Brittany!
Our family will be joined in July by a young woman from Spain! A lady involved in the PTA sent us some information about this and after much thought, we decided we would jump in and do it. We are VERY excited! This will give our family a little taste of another culture, as well
