To be or not to be…  Mentored!  A Personal Approach to Career Development<\/h1>

In life, we all need a little help from our friends!  Sometimes we need our friends to be more experienced than we are, more powerful than we are, independent of our careers, and available to us as a “sounding board.”  We need our friends to be open and honest with us when hearing concerns, and sometimes we really need a reciprocal relationship. <\/p>\n

This is where mentoring comes into play.  Mentoring is a developmental partnership through which one person shares knowledge, skills, information and perspective to foster the personal and professional growth of someone else. We all have a need for insight that is outside of our normal life and educational experience. The power of mentoring is that it creates a one-of-a-kind opportunity for collaboration, goal achievement and problem-solving.<\/p>\n
